There's another reason to attend this year's Borders Green Festival – a live performance of local band's The Briganties newly launched single, The Girl Heaven Sold to the World. Having a fan base reaching from Scotland to London, the Briganties have already toured the UK and have built up a following which is attracting the notice of the national press including Q magazine, Channel 4, BBC Newcastle and more

Brian Martin, a local musician and studio owner, comments, 'There's a perception that local communities, like ours in Berwick-upon-Tweed, don't have the talent or ability to reach the national level. Bands like The Briganties and Epic 26 are shattering that myth and their recent releases [and the Briganties full-scale album coming this summer] will go a long way to put our Border town on the national music map.'

The launch is only one part of a day-long music festival held at the Borders Green Festival. With over a dozen musical acts,– also including local favourites Espionage of the Loc, Saint Monday, and Roy's Iron DNA- playing on two stages, the music element of this year's event is expected to overshadow previous years. And the organiser's have even been able to work in a 'green' element – a stage whose power is generated by bicycle power!

Jump on and see how much 'people energy' is required to keep those batteries charged! And to make it even more worthwhile, Brian Martin is offering a guitar to the person who pedals the longest.
